Fake one-hundred dollar bills are circulating around a small island town in Alaska, and they are realistic enough to dupe a few cashiers, including one gas station attendant. On a recent Monday, a man paid in cash for gas and cigarettes at the Alpine Mini Mart in Wrangell, or so the cashier thought. It was busy at the time, and customers pay with Benjamins often, according to the employee. But after closer inspection, the bill had Chinese writing on it, which basically says “This is fake.” These types of faux currency can be bought online in stacks of $10,000, and some of them are almost identical to the real deal. Now, don’t get any ideas, but in case you are wondering … $10,000 in funny money costs about $25.
Learning Curve
Growing up can be hard. In one teen’s case, learning how to pump gas was a tough lesson. On a cold day, a teen helped his mom by filling her vehicle’s gas tank for her, and the mother documented his life lesson on video. The teen slowly swipes the card, enters the ZIP code and selects the fuel grade. Finally, he inserts the nozzle into the tank, begins to fuel and starts to feel more confident. The video cuts to the teen replacing the nozzle—upside down—in the fuel dispenser. Mom begins to laugh at her son’s new way of returning the nozzle and becomes even more amused when he tries again to stash the nozzle, only to place it upside down once more. After a couple more attempts, the teen finally gets the fuel nozzle returned to the pump correctly. Nevertheless, he probably can best his mom at texting or TikTok.
Special Delivery
One couple received a quick and unexpected surprise when the woman delivered their son as they were pulling into a Kwik Trip parking lot in Denmark, Wisconsin. The mother was not due for another two months, and the couple was on their way to the hospital, but the baby boy had other plans. EMS arrived at the gas station in under 10 minutes to whisk the newborn and mother to the hospital, where the baby is getting stronger every day in the NICU. Kwik Trip has been a big part of their lives, according to the father, who said the couple met at Kwik Trip a little over a decade ago. So it’s fitting that they welcomed their first child at the gas station as well.
