An IDEA That’s Good for Everyone

September 2021   minute read

Building an inclusive culture is not only the role of HR but also the responsibility of every leader, manager and employee. In an inclusive work culture, people feel respected and valued, and they give the best of themselves, generating higher-quality production. This commitment to openness and access inspires innovation, engagement and retention.

Join us for an in-person, one-day conference as we explore a path forward alongside senior HR professionals and retail leadership to hear their candid experiences, perspectives and plans to enhance inclusion, diversity, equity and awareness in their organizations.

Called the NACS IDEA Conference—for its embrace of inclusion, diversity, equity and awareness—the live, industry-wide conversation begins on October 4 in Chicago, one day before the NACS Show kicks off.

Who Is Speaking

NACS IDEA Conference
Monday, October 4
10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
McCormick Place, Chicago
Register at www.convenience.org/IDEAconference

Facilitated and keynoted by Michelle Duguid, associate dean of diversity, inclusion and belonging at Cornell University, the program will help attendees define, understand and leverage different types of diversity. Intimate retailer roundtable discussions will explore components of successful engagement, counteracting unconscious bias and fostering an inclusive climate in your organization, as well as understanding communication strategies for diversity, equity and inclusion.

During six quick-fire 30-minute presentations, chief HR and diversity officers from EG America, 7-Eleven, Giant Eagle/Get Go, Sheetz, Casey’s and Pilot Company will share their experiences and plans that—taken together—will begin to make the convenience industry stronger. A panel discussion with Thornton’s, RaceTrac and Kum & Go are also part of the program day.

Hear from these leaders about what they have done, where they have focused (corporate, district, store level) as well as what worked, what didn’t work, what they would have done differently and—most importantly—what they still need to know.

Who Should Attend?

While program content is tailored to chief executives and senior HR leaders at convenience and fuel retailing companies, retailers of all functional areas and suppliers are very much welcome to join the conversation to gain firsthand insight into the challenges and opportunities around diversity and inclusion.

When your workforce mirrors your marketplace, you’re stronger. You’re better positioned to thrive. Your customers will see you as a natural and better fit for them. That’s why diversity equals strength. It’s true in business and true in life.

IDEA. More than a conference—a conversation. Join us.
