What the New Tobacco Signage Requirements Mean for Retailers

The Department of Justice and tobacco manufacturers settled a long-standing litigation over in-store corrective statement signs over the summer. This litigation requires tobacco companies to supply court-ordered signs to retail stores that have contracts with any of them. The settlement also requires those retail stores to post at least one sign carrying one of the 17 different, pre-approved health messages that will be distributed at random to retailers around the country.
